PABI backed agri start up receives Rs 3 lakh grant through the Startup Punjab Initiative

 This grant will help House of Makhanas (HOM diversify offerings and reach broader markets.

Shayra Foods Private Limited, under its innovative brand House of Makhanas (HOM), has been awarded a grant of Rs 3 lakh through the Startup Punjab initiative. The grant was facilitated by Punjab Agricultural University’s (PAU) Punjab Agri Business Incubator (PABI), which acted as the nodal agency for mentoring and handholding the startup through the application and evaluation process.

House of Makhanas (HOM) focuses on delivering premium quality, roasted makhanas (foxnuts) that are not only a healthy snacking option but also rooted in traditional Indian wellness. The brand is committed to promoting sustainable sourcing, innovative flavour profiles, and empowering rural communities through local procurement.

Speaking on this development, Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, said, “At PAU, we take pride in supporting young entrepreneurs who combine innovation with impact. HOM represents a successful blend of tradition and modern health trends. This grant will further catalyse their journey and help scale their brand.”
