Zuari Farm Hub, one of India’s leading agri players has announced a strategic collaboration with WayCool, India’s leading food and agritech platform. The collaboration aims at creating value for farmers and stakeholders by providing agri-solutions for all farm needs, such as quality crop nutrition, crop protection, sustainable impact to farmers and developing a unique package of practices to drive traditional farming methods towards scientific farming technologies. This partnership will also look at leveraging the synergies and expertise that both companies bring to the table. While WayCool’s AI-driven ‘phygital’ farmer engagement platform, Outgrow will be an added asset to Zuari, the latter’s in-depth expertise will further strengthen WayCool’s agri-input portfolio.

 On the SAP ACE Awards, the results were declared after a stringent three-level evaluation process and scoring by the INDUS (the SAP India User Group) jury on multiple parameters, including Use Case, Solution, Business Impact, Experience, Future Impact, and SAP Architecture.

An innovative and first-in- the -industry platform consolidates raw data from multiple sources – including IoT devices, transactional data from SAP S4 Hana and application DBs – and converts it into relevant business insights. It provides a comprehensive view of key performance indicators with over 90 per cent accuracy on multiple factors. These include Clean Energy Generation, Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency & Treatment, Waste Management, Food Travel Miles and a full-fledged GHG Inventory to benchmark past and present performance, identify anomalies and holistically report sustainability performance.

 Since its inception in 2015, WayCool has achieved several milestones through its laudable sustainability initiatives. Kicking-off with 1.6 kWp solar roof-top panels at its model farm, the company currently has 6 per cent of its entire energy being sourced from solar power and 24.5% of water being treated and reused. These interventions in the operations have not only resulted in avoiding 83.1 tons of carbon emissions, but also delivered an annual savings $ 17,035 to the Company. WayCool leverages on innovative technology systems in its supply chain and has managed to restrict the food loss to 0.5 per cent – 2 per cent, in comparison to the IFC food loss projection of 18 per cent. Likewise, in the distribution, WayCool has electrified 22 per cent of its last last-mile delivery fleet covering 612,300 kms of green distance, eliminating 147.6 tons of logistic carbon emissions. The Company is also a member of the Climate Group EV100 Campaign, with a commitment to shift to 100 per cent EVs in their last-mile delivery by 2030. Beyond this, the Company through its ‘Outgrow’ program works with over 200,000 farmers in India influencing adoption of GAP and regenerative agriculture practices that are profitable.

Chennai-based WayCool Foods, India’s leading food and agri-tech company, has announced an investment in AllFresh Supply Management Private Limited (AllFresh) as part of its strategy to create a Keiretsu in the global food supply chain. 

AllFresh has been pioneering the development of modern supply chains in the apple and citrus spaces, introducing state-of-the-art practices and technology to erode food loss and extend shelf life of these products. With increase in prosperity, the consumption of premium fruit is expected to grow rapidly in India. As the nation ramps up its acreage under cultivation to meet this growing demand, WayCool will leverage Allfresh’s capabilities, as well as network of apple and citrus growers, and farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, among other locations, connecting their output to WayCool’s extensive network of over 1,25,000 retail clients.

The investment will help AllFresh further invest in its capabilities in post-harvest tech to enhance quality and extend shelf life. AllFresh will also benefit from increased access to WayCool’s deep and dense distribution network in India, and the UAE.

WayCool has been making several effective investments in companies that bring complementary capabilities to its platform, especially those with deep capabilities that are at the cusp of rapid growth. Most recently, it had invested in SV Agri, one of India’s largest independent potato supply chain and solutions companies, which has grown by over 2.5x since its most recent fundraise from WayCool.

57 Stars LLC, an independent global alternative investment firm targeting high-growth sectors driven by technological innovation, has announced that it has led a $40 million investment in WayCool Foods & Products Private Limited, India’s leading food and agri-tech platform. The investment is the first transaction for 57 Stars Direct Impact Fund and the second investment for 57 Stars Global Innovation Fund 2.

WayCool provides farmers with cohesive solutions, potentially increasing their income by up to 30 per cent while reducing food waste by up to 70 per cent.

57 Stars’ investment exemplifies the firm’s commitment to sustainable development and its dedicated impact investing strategy, which seeks to deliver compelling financial returns alongside meaningful positive social and/or environmental impacts.

SV Agri will expand its footprint, build-out cold storage facilities and expand its engineering platform

WayCool Foods, an agri-commerce company, announced the completion of its investment in SV Agri (SiddhiVinayak Agri Processing), fully integrated players in the potato supply chain ecosystem. WayCool initiated the process in July 2021 and has completed its investment of $7.5 m in the company.

Karthik Jayaraman, MD, WayCool Foods said, “Our investment into SV Agri is in line with our overall strategy to bring product-specific value chains onto our platform, and unlock significant value through the same. SV Agri has expertise in growing and providing high-quality potato seed tubers, best in class storage solutions, and top of the line engineering solutions for value-added products. WayCool will bring its technology platform, reach and distribution capability.”
