Two Brothers Organic Farms’ A2 cultured ghee earns Glyphosate residue-free certification

Independent testing highlights shift toward proof-based food safety as concerns over herbicide exposure grow

Two Brothers Organic Farms has become the first brand in India to receive independent Glyphosate Residue-Free Certification for ghee, following laboratory testing of its A2 Cultured Ghee, the company said.

The certification was awarded by DetoxProject.org, a globally recognized third-party organization that verifies food products contain no detectable glyphosate residues through testing of the final consumable product.

Addressing a Growing Food Safety Concern

Glyphosate use has expanded steadily across Indian agriculture, with residues increasingly linked to soil, water, fodder crops, and, indirectly, dairy supply chains. Persistent herbicide exposure can affect grazing animals through contaminated feed, spray drift, and water sources, raising concerns about the integrity of milk-based products consumed daily by families.

Two Brothers Organic Farms said the certification reflects a broader shift from “organic by practice” to “clean by proof,” emphasizing verification over claims.

“While interest in organic food is growing in India, there is still limited awareness about glyphosate—how widely it is used and whether products are actually tested for it,” said Satyajit Hange, Co-founder of Two Brothers Organic Farms. “For us, this certification was about closing that gap and moving the conversation from intent to evidence.”

Transparency Over Trust

Ajinkya Hange, Co-founder, said food safety standards must evolve alongside consumer awareness. “Food safety today has to be built on transparency, not trust alone. As evidence around chemical residues continues to emerge, testing and disclosure should become the norm rather than the exception in Indian food.”

Two Brothers Organic Farms positions the certification as a step toward setting higher verification benchmarks in the Indian organic and natural foods market, particularly for staple products such as ghee that are consumed daily.
