India-made SMART Seeder MINI-MAX begins worldwide distribution to drive sustainable agriculture adoption

Clean Seed Capital Group Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. have marked a major milestone in their strategic collaboration with the launch of full-scale manufacturing of the SMART Seeder MINI-MAX at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility in Madhya Pradesh, India. The ceremony also celebrated the first export shipments of the advanced seeding technology to Mexico and Brazil, with initial units bound for Canada already dispatched.

The milestone represents a decisive step in Clean Seed’s global commercialization strategy and underscores Mahindra’s manufacturing leadership as the world’s largest tractor producer by volume. Executives from both companies joined government officials from India and Canada over a week of strategic engagements, reinforcing the shared commitment to accelerate sustainable agriculture solutions worldwide.

Advancing Manufacturing Scale and Market Reach

At Mahindra’s corporate headquarters in Mumbai, senior leadership—including Jaydeep Desai, Head of Strategy & Business Development for Farm Machinery—reviewed production readiness, export logistics, and strategies to fast-track India’s subsidy program for advanced, sustainable agri-machinery, where the SMART Seeder MINI-MAX has helped establish a new technology category aligned with national priorities for lower-emission, resource-efficient farming.

The visit culminated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Pithampur plant, where the production line showcased completed units undergoing quality validation and export packaging. Clean Seed acknowledged the dedication of Mahindra’s project teams, engineers, and shop-floor specialists whose execution has enabled accelerated commercial delivery.

Partnership Built on Sustainability and Innovation

“This partnership reflects Clean Seed’s continued trust in Mahindra’s world-class manufacturing capabilities and our shared commitment to delivering advanced farm machinery to customers across the globe,” said Anusha Kothandaraman, Vice President & Business Head, Farm Machinery, Mahindra & Mahindra. “The SMART Seeder MINI-MAX combines patented technology with Indian manufacturing excellence—delivering measurable impact for farmers and the environment.”

Clean Seed Chairman & CEO Graeme Lempriere emphasized the moment as a defining realization of the company’s innovation journey. “Seeing the SMART Seeder MINI-MAX in production is physical proof of years of collaboration and belief in our mission to deliver sustainable seeding and planting technologies worldwide. Mahindra’s scale and operational capability are exceptional, and the passion of the teams on the ground has been instrumental in achieving this success.”

Clean Seed VP, Marketing & Business Development, Noel Lempriere, underscored the global momentum now underway: “This milestone demonstrates our capital-light scale-up strategy in action—translating innovation into market deployment. With production live and shipments moving to multiple geographies, the MINI-MAX is strengthening the future of regenerative, resource-efficient farming.”

A Global Model for Sustainable Agri-Technology

The collaboration is anchored in a shared sustainability agenda—reducing input intensity, enhancing soil health, and improving productivity to strengthen the resilience of global food systems. The partnership also advances Indo-Canadian cooperation under the Indo-Pacific strategy, showcasing how Canadian ag-tech innovation and India’s industrial capabilities can jointly deliver climate-smart technologies at global scale.

With full manufacturing now operational and exports underway, Clean Seed and Mahindra are positioned to expand the MINI-MAX footprint into high-priority markets where food security, climate resilience, and farm efficiency are converging as central policy and investment priorities.
