The Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Nagaland, has inaugurated a Command and Control Centre (CCC) to centralize data, provide real-time insights on soil and crop conditions, and improve advisory services for farmers. Funded jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and the Government of Nagaland under the Soil Health and Fertility component of RKVY, the CCC represents a technology-driven approach to sustainable soil and water management.
The Centre consolidates data from district offices, laboratories, and field-level activities to strengthen evidence-based decision-making. Equipped with a dedicated server system, GIS mapping tools, video conferencing facilities, and Wi-Fi-enabled workstations, the hub enables efficient analysis, visualization, and reporting on soil health, fertilizer recommendations, and crop performance. Farmers can access guidance directly through a toll-free number, bridging the gap between experts and field-level practitioners while improving program transparency, coordination, and accountability.
The operationalization of the CCC also supports the creation of a state-wide digital soil health repository, facilitating enhanced monitoring and implementation of soil fertility initiatives. The launch coincides with the inauguration of Biofertilizer Production Units at Rotomi and Seyochung, further reinforcing Nagaland’s commitment to data-driven, sustainable agriculture and providing farmers with actionable solutions to enhance productivity and resource efficiency across the state.
