Biomass densification technologies can accelerate India’s clean energy transition, create reliable supply chains: Experts

 The panel discussion on Densification on Demand – Opportunities through Briquetting, Pelleting & Torrefaction held on the second day of India BioEnergy & Tech Expo 2025, brought together leaders and innovators to discuss how biomass densification technologies can accelerate India’s clean energy transition, create reliable supply chains, and enable a sustainable future.

 The industry experts Satish Upadhyay, Chairperson, BGAF, IFGE & Former MD, SAMARTH Mission, Ministry of Power; Kalpesh Mehta, Managing Director & Chairman, Yulong Gattuwala Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd; Sunil Rai 🇮🇳, Bioenergy Consultant; Prasad Malagavi, CPM; Anant Bansal, 3e BIOeDhan Sustainable Solutions Pvt Ltd; Cdr Gurkeerat Sekhon, Blue Jacket Engineers and Ankit Jesadiya, Director, Satyajit Greentech Pvt Ltd participated in the panel discussion. Aman Kwatra, National Coordinator, IFGE: Biomass Global Associates Forum (BGAF) moderated the session.

Satish Upadhyay explored how to grow biomass ecosystems locally, ensure long-term sustainability, and strengthen the role of bioenergy in India’s future.

Kalpesh Mehta shared his vision for the next 4–5 years, encouraged manufacturers to adopt automation and dryers, and spoke about scaling for efficiency.

Sunil Rai 🇮🇳 talked about his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing customized plant design, investment challenges in farm-based businesses, and mechanisms to ensure sector growth.

Prasad Malagavi discussed biomass and oil seeds, highlighting their potential as feedstock for bioenergy production.

Anant Bansal focused on supply chain optimization, bridging the gap between biomass availability and industry demand.

Cdr Gurkeerat Sekhon spoke on data-driven optimization, stressing the importance of generating and analysing operational data for improved efficiency.

Ankit Jesadiya highlighted auto-feeding systems and the importance of a reliable and sustainable supply chain to prevent production delays.

 Aman Kwatra, National Coordinator, IFGE: Biomass Global Associates Forum (BGAF), IFGE skilfully moderated the session, tying together key insights from all speakers.
