John Deere sets a new standard with launch of H Series forestry machines

John Deere has unveiled its next-generation H Series wheeled forestry machines, designed to push the boundaries of productivity, automation, and operator comfort in large-scale logging operations. The lineup includes the all-new 1270H and 1470H Harvesters and 2010H and 2510H Forwarders, each engineered to deliver powerful performance with a sharp focus on fuel efficiency and operational sustainability.

According to Mikko Borgstrom, Global Product Marketing Manager at John Deere, “The launch of the H Series represents a bold step forward for John Deere in forestry equipment. These machines are built to deliver exceptional power, precision and fuel efficiency. With an industry-first innovation like enhanced hydraulic systems, advanced automation and an operator-first design, the H Series machines deliver exceptional productivity and performance in the field.”

The new harvesters boast significantly increased engine power and torque, enabling faster cycle times and enhanced cutting efficiency. A key advancement is the introduction of three dedicated hydraulic pumps, which deliver superior performance to feed rollers, saw units, and boom movements—translating to higher productivity and reduced fuel use per harvested cubic meter compared to previous models.

The H Series also redefines boom performance. Both harvesters and forwarders feature enhanced lifting and slewing capabilities, offering greater stability and precision in the most demanding terrains. Standard on H Series Harvesters, Intelligent Boom Control (IBC) 2.0 ensures smooth, accurate movement to reduce operator fatigue and improve working precision. Active Frame Lock offers superior machine stability across various working positions, including on steep slopes or flat ground, and allows for an expanded working range.

On the forwarder side, the 2010H and 2510H offer a 25 per cent increase in load capacity compared to the G Series, helping reduce cost per cycle and maximize load handling efficiency. The extended-reach F9 and F10 booms, with up to 10.7 meters of reach and improved lift torque, facilitate more effective timber handling. A new frame lock system ensures stability, even under heavy load on uneven surfaces.

John Deere has prioritized operator well-being and efficiency in the H Series with a redesigned cab that features expanded glass areas for better visibility, quieter interiors, and a rotating and leveling cabin to support accuracy and reduce strain. Inside, programmable joysticks, ergonomic seating, and a premium sound system create an intuitive and comfortable workspace. The new Intelligent Cabin Key allows operators to remotely unlock the cabin, power up the onboard PC, and automatically load personalized settings, streamlining workflow from the moment they step inside.

Digital automation also gets a major upgrade. The TimberMatic H Automation system introduces a revamped interface with real-time data sharing, adaptive display modes, and advanced site mapping capabilities—helping crews improve planning, reduce downtime, and optimize operations. Maintenance has also been simplified with centralized refill points, electric engine oil level sensors, and a centralized greasing system.

Completing the lineup is the H216 Harvester Head, designed as a versatile, two-roller replacement for the H270. Suitable for both hardwood and softwood applications, it comes equipped with a top-saw option, advanced feed motors, and a precision-focused find-end laser sensor. Available for the 1270H with boom reach options of 8.6 and 10 meters, and for the 1470H with 8.6-, 10-, and 11-meter configurations, the H216 further enhances the flexibility of the new harvesters.

With the launch of the H Series, John Deere is redefining the modern forestry machine—blending powerful engineering, digital intelligence, and operator-first design into one integrated platform. The result is a future-ready solution that boosts productivity, reduces operational costs, and meets the evolving demands of the global forestry sector.
