VST set to roll out electric farming equipment in FY26, eyes global markets

VST Tillers & Tractors is set to launch its first fully electric power tiller and weeder in FY26, marking a significant step in the company’s push toward sustainable agriculture solutions. The move builds on three years of collaboration with US-based Monarch Tractor, a pioneer in electric and autonomous farming technologies. The upcoming electric range reflects VST’s commitment to innovation in farm mechanization and reducing carbon emissions in agriculture. The company aims to meet the evolving needs of small and marginal farmers while aligning with global trends in clean energy and smart farming

VST Tillers & Tractors, a leading Indian manufacturer of agricultural machinery, is gearing up to launch two fully electric products in FY26 — a power tiller and a power weeder — marking its formal entry into the electric farm equipment space. The launch underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and aligns with the industry-wide shift toward cleaner, energy-efficient solutions in agriculture.

The move into electric platforms builds on three years of collaboration with U.S.-based Monarch Tractor, where VST supplied drivetrain components for Monarch’s autonomous electric tractors. That experience, Cherukara noted, has informed VST’s strategy and technological readiness for the Indian and international markets.

Practical and Farmer-Centric Design
VST’s electric tiller is designed with real-world practicality in mind. The company is also introducing fast-charging capabilities, aiming for 70–80 per cent charge in just 30–40 minutes. Swappable batteries will be available as an optional feature, though VST is not making them a core dependency at this stage.

Global Ambitions and Domestic Growth
While VST’s immediate focus is on the Indian market, the company plans to export its electric products to Europe and other international regions, capitalizing on growing global demand for sustainable farm mechanization. The company is coming off a strong year, with FY25 sales of 37,297 power tillers, up from 36,480 units in FY24. Sales of weeders surged to 7,458 units, compared to 4,567 units in the previous year — signaling robust demand in both categories.

With its new electric offerings, VST aims to differentiate itself from early entrants in the electric agri-equipment space — including the Murugappa Group — by combining practical runtime, fast-charging tech, and a farmer-first approach. The initiative represents a key milestone in VST’s long-term vision to modernize small farm operations and lead India’s transition to clean, technology-driven agriculture.
