Akshay Kumar joins Crystal Crop Protection as brand ambassador

Crystal makes strategic investment of Rs. 100 crores to set-up world- class manufacturing facility in Bharuch, Gujarat to serve domestic and export markets

Crystal Crop Protection Limited (“Crystal Crop Protection”), one of India’s research-led agri-input companies, today announced the appointment of Akshay Kumar as its “Brand Ambassador”.

On the sidelines of this association, Crystal Crop Protection also unveiled its first national brand campaign with Akshay Kumar, “Desh Ka Kisan, Desh Ka Asli Hero”, a tribute to the contribution and everyday courage of India’s farmers.

Recently, the company has also made a strategic investment for a new fully automated, world-class integrated greenfield manufacturing plant in Bharuch, Gujarat for agrochemical formulations and technical products. This greenfield project comes at a total investment of Rupees One Hundred Crores (Rs. 100 crores) over a period of three years and is designed to have an initial production capacity of 50,000 MT per annum of formulations, with built-in flexibility for future expansion up to 1,20,000 MT to meet growing demand.

This association brings together Crystal Crop Protection’s three-decade long commitment to Indian agriculture with Akshay Kumar. Through this partnership, Crystal Crop Protection aims to further strengthen its connect with India’s farmers and help them adopt advanced solutions and improve farm profitability.

The campaign will celebrate farmers as the backbone of the nation while highlighting Crystal Crop Protection’s role as a partner that supports them with crop protection solutions, seeds and outsourced farm advisory teams deployed through its “Crystal Doctor” network.

Crystal is a leading player in India’s crop- protection market which is a rapidly evolving sector with a market value of ~ Rs. 24,500 crores. The largest segment within that is insecticides valued at ~ Rs. 10,700 crores, followed by herbicides at ~ Rs. 8,200 crores and fungicides at ~ Rs. 5,600 crores. Over the last 5 years, each of these segments have seen an average annual growth in the range of 5 to 11 percent.
