Moonrider amplifies manufacturing ambitions with fresh $6 Mn capital infusion

Moonrider, one of India’s emerging electric tractor innovators, has secured $ 6 million in Series A funding, marking a significant step in its transition from pilot projects to large-scale commercial deployment. The round was led by pi Ventures, with participation from Singularity AMC and existing backers Advantedge Founders and Micelio Fund.

The fresh capital bolsters Moonrider’s ambition to build a fully integrated electric tractor platform at a time when India—the world’s largest tractor market with nearly one million diesel tractors sold annually—is preparing for its next wave of farm mechanisation. As diesel prices and maintenance costs climb, analysts expect the global electric tractor segment to post 20 per cent+ CAGR over the coming years, positioning India as a critical adoption market.

A Deep-Tech Approach to Electrifying Farm Power

Moonrider’s technology stack is built on vertical integration across drivetrain engineering, battery systems, and electronic controls, allowing the company to reduce both upfront and lifetime operating costs. The platform promises cost parity with traditional diesel tractors while lowering land preparation expenses for farmers and fleet operators.

The company is currently India’s only electric tractor manufacturer with a fully homologated, road-ready product line, giving it a strategic edge as state governments and agritech networks expand trials of low-emission farm machinery.

Preparing for Scale

With its strengthened capital base, Moonrider plans to scale manufacturing, deepen supply chain capabilities, and expand deployments across major agricultural regions. The focus is on improving farm productivity while supporting a broader shift toward cleaner, more efficient agricultural practices.

As the country moves toward climate-aligned mechanisation, Moonrider aims to position itself as a leading force in India’s next-generation tractor ecosystem—where electric powertrains, lower operating costs, and sustainable farming outcomes converge.
