India’s National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) has expanded its digital trading ecosystem by adding nine new commodities, bringing the total number of tradable items on the platform to 247. The move aims to broaden market access for farmers, ensure fair pricing, and strengthen transparency in agricultural trade.
The newly listed commodities — Green Tea, Tea, Ashwagandha Dry Roots, Mustard Oil, Lavender Oil, Mentha Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Lavender Dried Flower, and Broken Rice — come with standardized quality parameters designed to link prices directly to produce quality, reducing farmers’ dependence on intermediaries.
These guidelines were developed by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) in consultation with state agencies, traders, experts, and the Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), and approved by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Since its inception, e-NAM has integrated hundreds of mandis into a single digital marketplace, enabling farmers to secure competitive rates, expand their buyer base, and participate in efficient, transparent trade. With this expansion, the platform further solidifies its role as a farmer-friendly, technology-driven engine for India’s agricultural economy.
