Wavar partners with Samunnati to strengthen FPOs and accelerate integrated pest management adoption across India

In a move poised to reshape India’s agricultural value chain, Wavar, one of the country’s fastest-growing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) companies, has announced a strategic partnership with Samunnati, India’s largest agri-value chain enabler. The collaboration aims to empower Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), while driving large-scale adoption of IPM practices to cut costs, improve crop quality, and build a more climate-smart farming ecosystem.

The partnership will see Wavar’s high-demand IPM product portfolio embedded within Samunnati’s network of 30,000+ FPOs, FPCs, and Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs). This integration targets two of the most pressing challenges in Indian agriculture: Enabling FPOs/FPCs to diversify beyond market linkage activities into sustainable, high-value services, and reducing farmers’ dependence on synthetic pesticides through accessible, scalable IPM solutions.

“FPOs and FPCs are the backbone of India’s rural economy, but many struggle to go beyond market linkage activities,” said Joy Chakraborty, Co-founder & Director of Wavar. “By combining Samunnati’s capital and reach with Wavar’s IPM technologies, we are empowering these organizations to expand capacity, deepen farmer engagement, and deliver real profitability to their members. Farmers adopting IPM can reduce pesticide dependence by up to 50 per cent, improve yields, and produce low-residue crops that meet both domestic and global demand for healthier food.”

Currently spanning Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat, the collaboration is working with more than 600 FPOs/FPCs. The ambition is to scale this number to 1,500+ organizations, benefiting thousands of farmers, NGOs, and grassroots institutions across Samunnati’s ecosystem. Beyond pest management, farmers will also gain access to input financing, improved market linkages, and capacity-building programs, positioning them for long-term resilience and profitability.

Together, we are building stronger farmer institutions and enabling a more resilient, profitable, and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.”

The partnership is equally aligned with Wavar’s larger vision of creating a cleaner food value chain. Through its consumer-facing brand Chataka Tales, Wavar is forging direct market channels for low-residue, authentic food products — giving farmers access to better price realization while ensuring consumers gain healthier, chemical-free options.

Industry observers note that the collaboration underscores how agri-tech and financial enablers can converge to create farmer-first solutions that are both scalable and sustainable. Wavar acknowledged the role of Anil Kumar SG, Founder & CEO of Samunnati, whose pioneering leadership has built one of India’s strongest ecosystems for FPOs and FPCs.

With Wavar’s innovations in pest management and Samunnati’s unparalleled reach and financial expertise, this partnership represents a decisive step in mainstreaming IPM and making farmer profitability central to India’s agricultural growth story.
