Celebrating 60 years, Netafim India expands climate-smart farming mission across 10 states

Netafim India, the Indian subsidiary of Orbia’s Precision Agriculture business and a global pioneer in smart irrigation solutions, is marking 60 years of global innovation and leadership in precision agriculture with a renewed commitment to inclusive, climate-resilient farming.

With over six decades of advancing food security, farmer empowerment, and water-use efficiency, Netafim has transformed how agriculture meets the challenges of the 21st century—from water scarcity and soil degradation to yield gaps and rural livelihoods. In India alone, the company has impacted over 1.2 million farmers and helped bring 1.3 million hectares under precision irrigation, enabling 30–40 per cent yield improvements and up to 50 per cent water savings.

To commemorate this milestone, Netafim India is launching a pan-India farmer education initiative across ten states, with the goal of reaching over 100,000 farmers—prioritizing smallholders, women farmers, and farmer producer organizations (FPOs). This outreach reflects the company’s long-standing philosophy: “Grow More With Less.”

“This is more than an anniversary—it’s a reaffirmation of our purpose,” said Randhir Chauhan, Managing Director, Netafim India. “Our legacy is built not just on technology, but on trust, inclusion, and impact. As India advances toward climate-smart agriculture, Netafim is proud to be a partner to farmers, governments, and institutions. We’re investing in innovation, human capital, and ground-level engagement to scale meaningful transformation.”

As part of the 60-year celebrations, Netafim India is also launching a nationwide internal campaign titled “60 Years of Leadership”, engaging over 1,200 employees across the country. The campaign includes ‘60 Days of Impact’, a volunteer-driven initiative connecting employees with rural communities through farmer training, agronomic advisory, and social outreach efforts.

In parallel, the company is introducing ‘Voices of Netafim’, a storytelling series capturing employee journeys and grassroots innovations. Additionally, a range of skill-building and mentorship programs will be launched to cultivate the next generation of agritech leaders from within the organization. Celebrations will span Netafim’s offices, manufacturing facilities, and field locations across India—bringing together employees, farmers, and partners in a collective reflection of purpose, with a spotlight on the company’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP): “Where Purpose Comes to Life.”

Founded in 1965, Netafim pioneered drip irrigation in Israel’s Negev desert and introduced the world’s first commercial dripper in 1966. Since then, the company has evolved into a full-spectrum provider of precision irrigation, fertigation, agronomy, and digital agriculture solutions.

Over the past year, the company has introduced a suite of innovations aimed at improving on-farm efficiency and decision-making. Among them is GrowSphere, a digital farming operating system that allows growers to manage irrigation and fertigation remotely through real-time data insights. Netafim also unveiled the world’s first hybrid dripper with a built-in welded outlet—an advancement designed to enhance irrigation uniformity and system longevity. In India, the company launched Toofan dripline, a high-performance and cost-effective irrigation solution tailored specifically for small and marginal farmers.

These solutions are already generating impact across India’s diverse cropping regions—from grape farms in Maharashtra and banana plantations in Tamil Nadu to cotton fields in Gujarat and sugarcane belts in Uttar Pradesh. Flagship offerings like Uniram, DripNet PC, Typhoon, and PCJ Drippers continue to help farmers improve productivity while conserving precious water and nutrients.

Netafim India has also emerged as a strategic partner in India’s agricultural transition. Working alongside government ministries, state agencies, agri-tech startups, and farmer producer groups, the company has played a pivotal role in deploying precision irrigation solutions that are tailored to India’s fragmented landholdings and diverse agro-climatic conditions. Its work aligns closely with national goals around doubling farmer incomes, improving water-use efficiency, and building resilience against climate volatility.

“Our impact over 60 years is measured not only in hectares irrigated or farmers served,” Chauhan added, “but in livelihoods uplifted, women empowered, and ecosystems restored. That is the legacy we carry forward—with purpose and pride.”
