Tropical Agro unveils patented ‘Tag Proxy’ herbicide in West Bengal

Tag Proxy is a patented, non-selective, post-emergent herbicide designed to effectively eliminate all types of weeds. Its advanced formulation ensures comprehensive weed control and long-lasting protection. By streamlining weed management, Tag Proxy helps address critical challenges such as farm labour shortages and rising input costs, offering a highly efficient and farmer-friendly solution

Tropical Agrosystem (India) Pvt. Ltd., a leading name in crop protection and plant nutrition, has announced the nationwide launch of its revolutionary patented herbicide — Tag Proxy. Designed to combat persistent weed problems, Tag Proxy also addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing Indian agriculture today: labour scarcity.

With the dual pressures of rising input costs and a shrinking agricultural workforce, Tag Proxy provides a timely, practical solution. This non-selective, post-emergent herbicide is engineered for single-application control of all weed types, delivering extended protection while significantly reducing the need for manual weeding. Easy to apply and highly efficient, Tag Proxy enables farmers to increase productivity while easing operational demands.

Weed infestation continues to be a major threat to Indian farming. According to a joint study by the Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII) and the Directorate of Weed Research, weed-related losses account for 25–26 per cent in Kharif crops and 18–25 per cent in Rabi crops, translating into an annual productivity loss exceeding Rs 92,000 cr.

“At Tropical Agro, our mission is rooted in improving farmer welfare through innovation,” said Mr. V.K. Jhaver, Founder, Tropical Agro. “With Tag Proxy, we’re addressing a critical gap in India’s weed management solutions. This product not only improves field efficiency but also mitigates the growing problem of labour unavailability. We remain committed to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that support India’s food security and uplift our farming community.”

With Tag Proxy, Tropical Agro reinforces its commitment to delivering high-impact innovations tailored to the evolving needs of Indian agriculture.

Tag Proxy features a proprietary blend of Paraquat Dichloride 22.4 per cent W/W and Oxyfluorfen 1.99 per cent W/W EW, uniquely formulated for fast action and consistent, season-long results. With just a single spray, the herbicide ensures complete weed control, helping farmers save valuable time, reduce labour costs, and focus on enhancing yields and increasing profitability.

This latest launch builds on the momentum of Tag Stem Lee, India’s first granular insecticide with three active ingredients, introduced by Tropical Agro to combat stem borer and leaf folder infestations in paddy crops. Following a strong and positive market reception, Tag Stem Lee has reinforced Tropical Agro’s reputation for breakthrough agri-solutions tailored to Indian farming conditions.

Tag Proxy, approved by the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIBRC), will be available across India starting May 21, 2025.

With the introduction of Tag Proxy, Tropical Agro further strengthens its commitment to transforming Indian agriculture through innovative, sustainable, and farmer-centric solutions that boost productivity, reduce operational costs, and foster long-term agricultural growth.
