It aims to connect all dots spanning from Farm to Table in the agricultural spectrum for providing farmer centric solutions using Space Tech Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

Leads Connect Services, the premier Agritech data, risk management, and financial services company, introduced the game-changing Agrani platform at the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 (UPGIS).

Agrani is an end-to-end SaaS based platform developed for all stakeholders of Agriculture and Disaster Management. It aims to connect all dots spanning from Farm to Table in the agricultural spectrum for providing farmer centric solutions using Space Tech Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

UPGIS was a singular opportunity to launch the app. It created the perfect storm by bringing together global corporate leaders, policymakers, think tanks, and political and government leadership to raise awareness and generate more reach for the technology.

“Agrani is not just a simple market linkage app; it’s a game changer for the agriculture industry,” stresses Navneet Ravikar, Chairman & Managing Director of Leads Connect Services. “We’re proud to be launching it at UPGIS. Land, water, and soil health are witnessing stressed scenarios due to phenomenal urbanization and other allied activities. This may create a scenario of uncertainties in the context of productivity and economic stability. Therefore, appropriate interventions are required. Through AGRANI, we’re aiming to provide stage wise agronomy advisories such as impact of weather, biophysical, and crop management practises on yield productivity. We have also assessed the need for financing and crop insurance to help strengthen the ecosystem. This requires robust and transparent underwriting algorithms and medium. We’ve created agricultural credit and value chain scores for seamless, and efficient farm lending with electronic applications, disbursal of loans, insurance pay-outs linked to weather, field data all this aimed to benefit transfers in agriculture and help farmers struggling to get timely access to finance.

We have also enabled an omni-channel insurance platform, to provide seamless access to all relevant insurance products – health, crop, cattle, life, and motor. The platform will also deliver continuous post-sale service assistance, including claims management.

The adoption of diverse technologies can aid in the advancement of food processing and logistics. We are also establishing the right market linkages between farmers and buyers to create better transparency in pricing and better value, especially for perishable products.

By bridging the gap between farmers and customers, the platform helps to expand the food product distribution network for farmers and other stakeholders in domestic markets.

Similarly, Mandis and FPOs need digitisation to bring more transparency into transactions and farmers need more sales channels. Through our AGRANI Value Chain Platform, we aim to provide timely access to finance for FPOs/Agribusinesses for community infrastructure in terms of storage and transportation. We also have walk in Agrani Centres that would act as the physical outlets for all platform services to the stakeholders.”

ACB and IRRI are exploring conducting joint seminars between and among their experts and scientists to discuss and identify joint activities in the areas of rice landscapes and biodiversity

IRRI’s Director Jean Balié and Deputy Director General for Strategy, Engagement and Impact, Joanna Kane-Potaka recently met with ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) Executive Director Dr Theresa Mundita S. Lim to lay the groundwork for more active partnerships with the promotion of agrobiodiversity in the region.

Most recently, ACB has contributed significantly to two CGIAR-IRRI Innovate for Food Program intervention packages that are focused on enhancing ASEAN agrobiodiversity use and landscape biodiversity as well as climate neutrality and circular agriculture.

Agriculture, fisheries, and forests agrobiodiversity, including the genetic diversity, of animals, plants, and microorganisms used directly or indirectly for food and agriculture is critical to nutrition security, ecosystem service provision, and the resilience of agroecosystems. Yet, the ASEAN region continues to lose agrobiodiversity and associated traditional knowledge at an alarming rate.

“Indeed, there is poor understanding at all levels of society of what agrobiodiversity actually is and its critical role in initiatives that promote food security and nutrition, nature-positive solutions, sustainable and circular agriculture, reduction of agrochemicals use, and carbon neutrality. We acknowledge and value the knowledge and critical roles organizations like ACB have toward addressing this issue,” Balié said.

To this end, ACB and IRRI are exploring conducting joint seminars between and among their experts and scientists to discuss and identify joint activities in the areas of rice landscapes and biodiversity.

Beyond the regional program and cooperation between the two institutions, the meeting was also intended to explore ways to increase synergies with the Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the University of the Philippines – Los Baños. ACB also expressed openness to co-chair a scientific session with IRRI on agrobiodiversity in rice landscapes in the upcoming 6th International Rice Congress happening in Manila, Philippines on 16-19 October.

“It is so important we do not work only in our expert silos. We talked about solutions that are a win for biodiversity and a win for agriculture, specifically, rice systems. There are often trade-offs but this is the role of science and our own commitment to ensure we find a win-win,” Kane-Potaka said.

The project is aimed at creating 6000 jobs besides setting up 122 enterprises in the meat sector.

In order to reduce meat imports in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has approved an ambitious Rs 329 crore project for the next five years to achieve self-reliance in the meat sector. The project aims to create 6000 jobs besides setting up 122 enterprises in the meat sector in the region.

The project includes the import of meat breeds, which will lead to the establishment of 72 breed-based farms to provide high genetic merit to animals. Additionally, the project aims to conduct 100000 Artificial Insemination (AIs) annually and establish 400 new commercial farms every year. The project also focuses on the creation of clusters, mandis, abattoirs and common facilitcentresrs (CFCs), to support marketing and value addition of the sector.

Under the project, 50 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) and Self Help Groups will be linked to 10 new abattoirs and in-built value chains integrated with 10 sheep mandis and 50 CFCs. Meat is an essential part of a shortfall of 41 per cent leading to an import bill of ₹1400 crore every year. Meat production is not only of insufficient quantity but also lacks quality. The state has less than five breeds of sheep with the majority being dual-purpose breeds such as Kashmir Merino, Rambouillet, and Corriedale. However, there is increasing demand for fast-growing meat breeds like Dorper, Romnov, South Down and others.
