ICAR-IVRI organises meeting of veterinary officers in UP

Veterinary officers were made aware of the latest advances and technologies developed by the institute for improving livestock health and production

The ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh organised the first interface meeting with the participation of the veterinary officers and higher officials of the state departments of animal husbandry of all the districts of Uttar Pradesh. The institute launched the Interface Meeting Series on ’National Campaign on Advances in Animal Health’ with the various state departments of animal husbandry of the country to commemorate 75 Years of India’s independence.

 

The main objective of the meeting was to make the field veterinary officers aware of the latest advances and technologies developed by the institute for improving livestock health and production.

 

The Chief Guest, Dr Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) ICAR applauded the contributions of the veterinary professionals in controlling and eradicating several dreaded animal diseases. Dr Tripathi also urged for being prepared to tackle the challenges of the future like improving productivity, feeding quality food to the burgeoning population, tackling several emerging, re-emerging and zoonotic diseases, etc.

 

Dr Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Government of India outlined the various programmes being run by the DAHDF, Government of India for the control and eradication of the various livestock diseases. The need for an Entrepreneurship Development Programme in the field of animal science for the value-addition, traceability, e-commerce and supply chain of the products was emphasised in Dr Malik’s address.

 

Dr SK Mallik, Director, (Administration & Development), Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh emphasised the need for integration of the latest technologies for enhanced productivity of the animals.

 

Dr Indramani Chaudhary, Director (Disease Control & Farms), Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh accentuated the usefulness of the meeting for the field veterinarians. Dr AK Singh, CEO, Uttar Pradesh Livestock Development Board was present during the programme.

 

In his address, Dr Triveni Dutt, Director, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly deliberated on the various IPR portfolios of the institute. He also accentuated the need for wider adoption of the technologies to improve the productivity of animals.

 

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr Harendra Kumar, Joint Director (Extension Education), ICAR-IVRI, Bareilly delivered the welcome address.
