Pune-based agritech enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform FarmERP has partnered with UAE-based agrifoods, resources and direct-to-consumer brand Phoenix Group to digitise their business.
Under this partnership, FarmERP will act as high-end technical support to make projects more sustainable and traceable for the Phoenix Group. FarmERP will also be providing its cto help Phoenix Group to mitigate climate risks in agriculture and achieve sustainability.
The Pune-based start-up believes that its technology would help Phoenix Group achieve a higher level of competitiveness in the global agriculture market.
Founded in 2006 by Sanjay Borkar and Santosh Shinde, FarmERP is an ERP platform that provides information technology (IT) solutions to agriculture companies and start-ups, governments, crop insurance companies, non-governmental organisations, and farmer-producer companies and research and design (R&D) institutions. FarmERP’s platform has been deployed in over 25 countries.
In December 2019, the company raised an undisclosed amount in Series A from Singapore-based strategic investor Technogen. The company had planned to use that funding to develop the AI and ML-powered climate resilience intelligence. The company emphasised that the technology would help the FarmERP to expand into newer regions as climate risks were one of the most common problems faced by stakeholders in agritech. “Now we focus on climate-resilient agriculture. Predictable and intelligent agriculture is the future and we are committed to empowering our clients across the globe to take on new challenges in this competitive landscape,’ said CEO and cofounder Borkar.
The Phoenix Group is a global agricultural and food company that is engaged in production, procurement, processing merchandising and distribution of agricultural products in 10 business verticals across 30 countries, employing more than 2,500 people. The company’s central operations are based in Dubai.
