Advance Agrolife deepens manufacturing backbone with strategic capacity expansion

Company to add 3,700 MT of PEDA and 5,000 MT of Pretilachlor capacity, backed by strategic investments and policy tailwinds

In a decisive move to reinforce its manufacturing depth and secure supply chain efficiencies, Advance Agrolife Ltd has announced a significant expansion of its production capabilities for key agrochemical intermediates and technicals. The company is augmenting its capacity for Pretilachlor Technical and its critical intermediate, PEDA (2,6-Diethyl-N-(2-propoxyethyl) Aniline), at its facility in the RIICO Industrial Area, Bagru (Ext.), Rajasthan.

As part of this expansion, the company proposes to add an annual production capacity of 3,700 metric tonnes for PEDA and 5,000 metric tonnes for Pretilachlor. The initiative entails a capital investment of approximately Rs 18 crore towards PEDA manufacturing and Rs 7 crore for Pretilachlor, with the new capacities slated for commissioning within the financial year 2025–26.

The expansion marks a strategic step towards deeper backward integration, enabling the company to enhance control over its raw material supply chain while improving cost efficiencies and operational resilience. By internalising the production of key intermediates such as PEDA, Advance Agrolife aims to reduce dependence on external suppliers and mitigate risks associated with global supply disruptions.

Industry observers note that the timing of this move is closely aligned with recent policy developments, particularly the imposition of anti-dumping duties by the Government of India on select agrochemical imports. This regulatory shift has created a more favourable domestic manufacturing environment, encouraging companies to scale up local production and capitalise on emerging opportunities.

Pretilachlor, widely used as a pre-emergence herbicide in paddy cultivation, remains a critical input in India’s crop protection landscape. Strengthening its domestic production not only enhances supply security but also supports the broader objective of reducing import reliance in the agrochemical sector.

With this capacity augmentation, Advance Agrolife is positioning itself to capture rising demand while reinforcing its competitive edge through integrated manufacturing. The move reflects a broader industry trend, where policy support and market dynamics are converging to accelerate domestic value creation in the agrochemical value chain.
